That's what I wonder. Although the difference now if huge, would it be that big if I compare it to what the price WILL be...

I worked out that by the end of the 4 Winter fix, assuming an average price increase of 10% per annum ( which is what appears to have been the case over the last few years), I should be paying at least 25% less than I would have been on BG's standard tariff.

    Hi,
Its £30 per fuel to end early, BUT I believe it can take up to 2 months to switch
Do I switch to another fixed tariff now before the price rises start mid Nov?
    Thanks

It typically takes around 6 weeks to switch, but the safest way to avoid exit penalties is to wait until the end of your existing tariff is within the "cooling off" period (often 10 working days) for the new supplier. The new supplier will not notify the old supplier you are leaving until your cooling off period has passed. Of course, if you wait, the tariff you want may no longer be available...
Assume you will be charged the exit penalty when considering the new tariff against possible increases if you wait. If it is still worth it then go for it. If you avoid the penalty, it's a nice little bonus!

I think I'm going to wait until mid Nov for mine. Like someone said before, the price rises have been factored into the 'fixed' deals now, so there's no real rush.

I think anyone who fixed before the price rises is probably feeling pretty smug right now lol
