Hi

Vauxhall Vectra 07 plate, the bonnet release handle inside the car is broken, does anyone know how else to open the bonnet?

Hubby has been with a neighbour this afternoon to see what they can do but there's nothing obvious.

Sorry if that's not enough info.

Has the handle snapped off or does pulling the handle not release the bonnet?

Pulling the handle doesn't release the bonnet, you can feel that it's just moving freely, not attached to anything.

Don't worry. They've got the grill off and it's still nigh on impossible to do anything with it.

We'll contact regular mechanic on Monday.

I don't know the specific car, and I am far from an expert, but it might be that there is a cable (mechanical not electrical) that has either snapped or become detached at one end or the other. If your husband did want to persevere I'd be thinking along the lines of gaining access to where the cable should join the handle...

Look on Google for the Vectra owners forum and ask there.

there are some forums that have strict rules against asking such questions. it falld under the how can I pinch a car section of forum rules like how do get the bonnet up without using the handle? how do I open my car lost spare and now locked my keys in the car how to open without smashing the window? how do I turn off immobilizer got a fault car wont start?

so many forums give rules on asking such questions.

understandable, leave it to a mechaniic. Chances are it will have to be lifted on a ramp and removed by hand from down under

VXON.com ? I don't think anyone is going to believe that anyone would want to rob a Vectra. :rotfl:

It always makes me smile when I see cars with those steering wheel locks on the them. They are always on the naffest cars that you could leave unlocked all night with the keys in the ignition like 15 year old Micras and Skoda Fabias. What fantasy world are these owners living in?

Cars before the age of immobilizer are more likely to get to get pinched by someone just out for a joy ride. Cars with an immobilizer can only really be nicked along with the keys, unless of course your theft really know what they are doing in which case a steering wheel locking going to naff all anyway.
