virgin mobile block outgoing number
Hi All
I wanted to make outgoing calls from my mobile ,with holding my number. whilst surfing the web I found this site. that is MSE. I found a couple of answers to my question. the first was to prefix with 1831 or 141. I tried both and found that 141 works for me on my phone, I phoned home using the 141 prefix . then did a 1471 on home phone. it worked a treat , my phone is an orange San Francisco, using virgin mobile.
When my contract with orange came to an end , they wanted money from me to unlock it. I went surfing and found the answer on the web

Dialling 141 on a mobile is non standard and depends on the network handling the call correctly. The preferred method if you wish your number kept private is to go to the phones Caller ID settings which globally blocks your number with no need for any prefix to be dialled.
It should be said I (and many others) do not answer anonymous calls, so it is often counter productive.0 -
