Take the phone to the bare bones if you can, keep it in an airing cupboard or lightly blow a hair dryer over it, if the drink is sugary then thats what eats away at the circuit board, but if not then hair dryer or airing cupboard will do the trick
As browntoa mentioned below if the sim has the numbers on it then put the numbers onto another phone for the time being, slight leaks on phones are usually o.k when dried out0 -
only if she saved it to the sim card and not the phone.....
if the phone dries out you may be lucky to get it running fo a while and copy them off by cable to the PCEx forum ambassador

A long shot I know but if she could get access to a vacuum oven at 30 or 40 degrees this would do the trick.
In my previous job we used these to dry out circuit boards and other components prior to repairing and testing them. They evacuate the moisture and hence help to dry it out.

It should be o.k, I've dropped a phone down the toilet and in a pint of stella (dont ask how it just happened) and it worked fine after a day of drying out, if she can take it apart then wipe any bits of moisture off the circuirt board with a tissue and it should work o.k, slight contact with fluid is the easiest to deal with.0

A vacuum oven, god and this is testing my knowledge, it doesnt let water molecules line up (basicly settle) it will heat the water molecules up and remove them. Jesus Christ that took me back some years !!0

No its not a microwave its a special device to remove moisture determinations, if its a sweet drink that spilled over it then take the phone apart straight awayy and wipe the entire circuit board to remove any traces of it, any drink that contains sugar will damage the phone if left for a period of time. The sooner the better, if its a slight leakage then you should get away with it.0
