The dealer registered my new car to someone else!

Sorry for the confusion, it is a PCP and the finance company is the parent company of the car manufacturer.

I'm originally from the US (though I've been gone for over a decade), so I thought if it sounded like a lease that I'm familiar with, worked like a lease, it was a lease This was my first brand new car since moving to the UK just over 3 years ago.

Your best option is probably to have another chat with the DVLA to tell them what's happened & to see what options they have available & if they are able to correct it. Given the amount of time that has gone by since it was first registered, they might not be able to make a correction (assuming they could in the first place).

If the DVLA are unable to correct it then I would take the case up with the dealer that they have devalued your car and see what they say.

It won't necessarily add another registered keeper. It happened to me once, a dealer registered a car in my father in laws name instead of mine, I wrote to the DVLA as did the dealer, both explaining that it was a mistake, DVLA changed the V5 to my name but didn't it didn't add another owner.
