Call credit amend urgently needed

My daughter & her husband are trying to get a 1st time buyer mortgage. Both have good jobs. Two of the three credit checker scores are excellent. Call Credit check has scuppered their mortgage. They have bad debt listed at an address that her husband had rented. They have it listed as Flat 1 & Flat 2. He clearly did not live at both & he left NO DEBT. He had his deposit returned and his utilities bills moved with him in a timely manner. To get Call Credit to correct their error they say will take about a month after he sends the proof that he left no bad debt. He will be able to prove this but a month - the house they want and the mortgage deal they have arranged will be lost through no fault of theirs. Help for 1st time buyers? How can this be repaired in time for them not to lose the house they want?

    The lender is...?

Debt is registered under a name, not an address, so something at an address he never lived at in a different name cannot affect him.

It would be a great coincidence if someone with the same name lived next door.

  • The flat that my daughter's husband rented was in fact a house that had been seperated into two flats. It appears that debt run up in one part of the house has been incorrectly attached to my son-in-law. Call Credit is the only credit agency that has a problem. The other two are just searching the person and coming up correctly as excellent -not just good. It is so frustrating that they have so far been advised by Call C redit that to correct this will take a month

This is an issue only if the lender concerned supplies information to, or takes information from, Call Credit.

    Which lender, please?

  • Lloyds and they do search all three. The other two are excellent.

    According to this;-

it's Experian and Equifax only. Same with Halifax and C&G, as LBG companies.

What is the source for your assertion?

  • Lloyds have told them no mortgage until you sort it out with Call Credit. They had been told yes they could have the mortgage when the bank had checked Experian. Now they have checked Equifax- still excellent and then Call Credit and Lloyds have told them it is a problem that needs sorting out with Call Credit. They each went online and tried to get a credit report but could not obtain it online with Call Credit and were told you will need to write to us and await a report. Then write to who ever claims you owe them and sort it then write back to us and we will repait -about a month. There is no one that they owe so can only assume as it has been suggested that it is to do with the address that he rented part of a house. My only suggestion to them is to get a letter from the person that he rented confirming that he owes him nothing and posting it to Call Credit? Who may then correct the file that they are holding. As he owes nothing it is more a case of the time scale & if they will lose the house that their offer has been accepted on.

Being a broker makes you a pragmatist, if nothing else...

There are far more competetive mortgage products from other lenders, so vote with their feet?

  • The problems with that are (1) My daughter is bank staff arranging a staff mortgage (2) They have had several credit searches done recently and have been advised that searches can damage your credit as the searches do not show if you are some one having difficulty with obtaining credit or not. (3) Lloyds advise that sorting things with Call Credit is the only way forward (4) Call Credit have advised if this is a mistake it will take a month to correct.

He clearly did not live at both & he left NO DEBT. He had his deposit returned and his utilities bills moved with him in a timely manner.

How much is the default for?

    When was it registered?

The debt may have no connection to the property itself. The creditor will serve notice on the last known address.
  • They have not been able to find out how much / who /why /when. They have been advised that it is to do with that address and that the address is connected to his file with Call Credit as -Flat 1 & Flat 2. He took out no loans when he lived there and had all utility bills changed to his present address. The person who he rented from returned his deposit as he owed nothing. This is what has been so frustrating about dealing with Call Credit. I thought that the fact they were not able to see their credit report online with Call Credit may have something to do with Call Credit not recognising them as they have some incorrect info?
