  • Pukka make a fennel, peppermint and nettle tea that helps with gas. It's called Cleanse, but I reckon you could make your own from fresh peppermint and some fennel seeds crushed up. Tastes nice too.

Was the holding it in, was the killing of me"

Hope all hatches are battened, and the storm dies out over the English Channel before doing any damage..

But I did soak them overnight!

Another poster has said maybe I'm not used to fibre. Well I eat my five a day most days, never eat refined carbs, always wholemeal.

But honestly the gas from lentils really surprised me, and I'm still emitting....out in the garden at the moment, and it's bloody cold!

It's just not worth it for me.

Have never had this before, and can eat anything.

Thanks for replies all. Lentils off the menu for me forever.

You have to change the water, several times in the case of some lentils but red ones are usualy OK with one. In saying that some people just can't digest them properly and if you are one of that group, you are probably right to avoid them TBH.

  • Whatever you do don't make the green lentil, bacon and cabbage soup that I made last week. DH described it as looking and tasting like swamp water. I didn't think it was THAT bad but the after effects were probably similar! :rotfl:

The only type of pulse I can tolerate is pearl barley. Any other type puffs me up like a balloon.

    That's a grain not a pulse.
