  • I am not happy !

you need to be careful about confrontation.

You could be accused of harassment

    I question this threads motives

Is it to provoke a bad reaction which could be used by parkingh companies in future court cases.

dont do it ! this public interest matter does not need vigilanties
  • I did not think that Aldi used a scammer like UKPC, they only use better class scammers like Parking Eye.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Ha ha - harassing the parking polizei - that's a good one.

I see it as a reminder to people to 'obey the rules' - that's the purpose of these parking supervisors - isn't it?

Or have I got it all wrong and they are there to fleece money from innocent shoppers?

As well as this – it’s hardly the guy in the car park’s fault. He’s most likely on minimum wage trying to scrape a living to get him and his family by. We might not agree with his choice of career but physically intimidating him is a pretty low thing to do if you ask me and makes you no better than the scum who run the operation he’s working for.

You might be angry but you’re coming a cross as an ignorant bully here! Try focussing your efforts on the big guys if you want to vent your anger rather than picking on the easiest option.

Hey now - wait on a minute here - who said anything about 'physically intimidating him'?

Just knowing he is there is all we need to know - thereby avoiding getting a ticket by being extra vigilant.

Hopefully he isn't paid on 'results' - if he is it's even more important that shoppers are aware of his presence.

    Am I that transparent:rotfl::rotfl:?
These guys are very easy to deal with, especially if you are bigger than them!!
Once he realised I wasn't going to flatten him, he got a bit bolder, but he was rather subdued initially:)
Not very sophisticated I know, but the response was tailored to the level of the audience it was intended for:):)

    Seems pretty intimidating to me!

Well , I actually never threatened him at any point, either physically or verbally - I am not a bully at all, I just found it kind of amusing how timid and non-confrontational he was when he realised he could not intimidate me:):)

I agree with this, the person at the car park is simply an employee trying to make a living, most have been told on what to do, they just shrug their collective shoulders and just take the pay at the end of the month. Most only stay a few months and then are gone.

Better to target the company itself and cost them more to chase these spurious charges through popla and the small claims for harassment and so on. Also to try and get them thrown out of car parks by losing their contracts.
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

    OK - fair comment.

I would not advise anybody to even talk to a PPC employee.

No more than I would stop and engage a person operating a 'Safety Camera' speed monitoring van, in a discussion about the politics of their employment.

I'm happy to simply advertise their locations though.

Fair enough - you do have a point there, but at the same time surely the guy must realise that what he is doing is wrong - these guys are no innocents themselves, and come up with all sorts of devious ruses to fleece people(who for the most part are also just struggling along to make a living) out of their hard-earned cash in order to meet their quota.
Of course it is the PPC's themselves who are the real villains, and they just send out these patsies to do their dirty work without providing them with any knowledge of the law, and of what is and isn't permissible - the guy that I spoke to(and it was a perfectly civil conversation too) did not have a clue as to what he was and wasn't allowed to do.
And then of course the PPC's are in bed with that special breed of pond scum known as debt collection agencies.

I do agree that the PPC's should be hit through POPLA appeals, which appears to be the only recourse currently available for the fleeced motorist, but unfortunately the bullying tactics employed by the PPCs and DCAs intimidate enough people into paying up, to make the losses they may suffer at POPLA inconsequential.
Anyhow, the point I'm trying to make is that while the car park guys are not the real bad guys, neither are they as innocent as you are making out - I most certainly do not advocate going around beating up and threatening these guys, but they also need to realise that they are the public face of these unsavoury operators and are therefore going to occasionally cop a bit of flak.
