No-one telling us to backup yet?
BACKUP before you upgrade!
I upgraded my MacBook Pro and it all went fine (took an hour though - allow time!) and it's certainly worth it for me just for the long awaited tabs in Finder. Let's see how much energy saving it gives us...0 -
He tells me it's all very painless and everything works as it should.
It was painless, but then all of my upgrades have been to date. For the price (free) I am not complaining but there hasnt been any big difference for me yet.
I need/ want to back up my iPhoto/ Aperture library before updating my iMac as it has irreplaceable images in it and I have had had it corrupt once before so dont like risking it0 -

All my pictures and important files are backed up to my Time Capsule and are also synced to another NAS drive. :TOne by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
My MacBook Pro was only 2 days old anyway so I didnt really have anything to lose by installing the new OS.
It all went smoothly. The 5 gig download was swift as we're on fibre, the actual install took a shade under an hour.
Just really getting used to the Mac after god knows how many years with Windows but am liking what I see so far!

All my none picture/ movie/ music files are backed up onto my Time Capsule and the most important ones are also backed up off site.
Due to the misses work we have a silly amount of picture and movie files (and to a lesser degree music), with about 6 terabytes and so having duplicate copies would be a pain. These are all store on an external drive with a raid configuration to protect against drive failure (but not file corruption)0 -
OP, it's not really news the best PC you have owned is also the most expensive one you've had (probably by a considerable margin).

Upgraded to Mavericks on Thursday on 2011 iMac. Bootup is now slower, performance is laggier, restore from sleep is very creaky, plus my scanner no longer works.
Apart from that everything's just peachy

I love Apple products, but I don't find Windows difficult to use or maintain.
It's ironic that I'm typing this now, because I got a BSoD yesterday for the first time since upgrading to Windows 7! (It happened when I installed Avast) Seems very stable on the whole though.
I'd buy an iMac in a heartbeat if I wasn't saving for more important things though! What will your verse be?

I read that Maverick will only sync through the cloud. Can anyone confirm or provide details of an alternative method?0
