New Property - which is the best deal?

Moving into a new property on the 1st November, so signed up to the Energy tool on MSE. I have absolutely no idea what provider was being used, or how Gas/electricity they had been using before, so how do i find the best deal? Surely if it has all been disconnected, I should have the pick of the suppliers when reconnecting?

We're in the same boat, moving 30th October, don't know how to fing the cheapest supplier with nothing to compare it with!0
