Got my 3 month bill other week for £380, which was way off the normal estimate, I rang them and they said to give meter readings, now they will send someone out to see if there is a fault.
I live in a 1 bedroom flat and use very little water, so I know this is totally wrong, but surely they can't make me pay this? either way i'm not paying it.

The meter is outside, in fact there are two... they said a few months ago that I was on the wrong meter (which would of been well over 7 years.
This may have something to do with it, but obviously im not useing that much volume, the clock uses around 3 digits a week.
Guess a leak could be possible but I think it must be the meter's fault.
They are estimates, usual bill is around £40.
I wont pay over a years worth of water I haven't used, but worried about credit score for future mortgage.0 -
You really should check your water bills and check that the readings are corrected if they have been estimated. Water is a resource that you are paying for, just like electricity & gas and if you don't keep an eye on your bills and consumption then you don't know what you are paying for or if you've got a problem that needs investigating.
Most people who have billing problems, get a big surprise bill because they haven't been checking and correcting their bill.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
