need INSTANT european breakdown cover

Hi,
I've got teh eurotunnel booked for Friday but only jsut realised I never got around to renewing my breakdown cover, so now I'm completely without and don't fancy being left high and dry should the worst happen in France or elsewhere in Europe.

The place I usually get cover from (quotelinedirect) can't start European cover for 3 days after you join/renew, as it seems most of the others can't either.

Anyone know any firm that can do a reaonablypriced UK + Europe policy, including homestart and all that good stuff, to start immediately?

Thanks

Most have a cool off period. I think order asap and fingers crossed for the first couple of days.

This is only Wednesday - buy it now and print it off.

    It'll be active on Saturday.

Most of them have a period at the start where you can't claim; so that you can't sign up after breaking down. But as said you've got time to register now and have it in place at least part way into your trip.

ADAC are a replacement for the usual AA/RAC membership, just offering full Euro cover as standard. We've used 'em for a couple of years, and had mixed results, but if you want full-year pan-Euro cover, especially for an older camper, they're the only show in town.

I agree their coverage is brilliant - I've had great help through them in several countries.
  • Another vote for ADAC: they’re incredibly good value; for me and SWMBO in any car, of any age, anywhere in Europe, they charge me around £90 and that includes recovery.

If you are unfortunate enough to break down you simply call their Munich call centre where most of them speak good English, and they’ll despatch whichever is the appropriate national organisation. Which, in the UK is the AA because ADAC owns the AA!

Despite slight trepidation because she has absolutely no German other than “Oui” and “Non” (don’t laugh, it’s not funny!), SWMBO has successfully dealt with ADAC on two occasions, and the only problem was with the AA who seemed to resent being told “vot zey must do and ven zey must do it”.

"Sprechen sie Englisch?" is about all the German you need - if the person who answers doesn't, they'll very quickly transfer you to somebody who does. And don't be afraid to ask for a call-back from 'em. They're happy to... But the callback doesn't come from Munich - it's off-shored... to Croatia!

Wiki Link to Acromas Holdings edited out
That's interesting - though Acromas is only a holding company and I've heard the ADAC/AA link from more than one reputable source: I wonder whether Charterhouse Capital Partners, CVC Capital Partners or Permira Advisers have a interest in ADAC..?

I tend to be slightly more polite/verbose than that, but SWMBO defaults to French and then remembers that she's speaking to a German.....

That's good to know - Mrs Iceweasel speaks fluent Hrvatski - but little Deutsch. :p
