This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Though it doesn't sound particularly good out there and the drive to work is not at all appealing in torrential rain.
My redundancy process will be completed on Thursday, then I can start my life again, instead of living in the limbo of the last few months. It's 68 days until I leave but with holidays and weekends, I am actually in work for just 37 days.
Redundancy payment is already well spoken for, we desperately need a new to us car, ours is on 190,000 miles and getting more and more expensive to keep running, maintain and get through MOTs each year. We need some essential work on this falling down house and the remainder will go on debts and hopefully finish off at least two more. All of these will contribute towards peace of mind and a brighter future.
Better get a move on so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all
Fish fed, breakfast eaten, packups made, I'm knackered already and I've only done 2 days, mind you hubby is on lates and so every day is a long day, y'day he went to hospital and a hearing aid has been prescribed, he's feeling very down about it, it's another reminder that he's not getting any younger. We were talking it over 'til past 2am.
Molly, don't overdo it with the housework, it will wait, mine's waited weeks, lol.
Hugs to RR Hilly & Bemuzed.
Time I got dressed.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all,
Storm here in the night too, was strange though there was loads of lightning but no thunder.
Day off today and I need to give the house a good clean, I also need to start to print off the order of services for my dad, we did the music last night, which was emotional.
I also have to go and get OH smart trousers and a shirt, he lives in jeans (as do I) but I at least have some smart black trousers from my office days.
Lamb tagine type of thing for dinner, have got some butter beans and chick peas to go in so should be nice.
TTFTM I am so pleased for you.
Jools hugs hun xx0 -
Morning All
Still very dark here, not sure what the weather is doing but I'm sure it will be raining, it always is here. Woke up at 3am and just dozed after that, will feel like carp later - so many things going through my mind I think.
Sausage and mash for tea, DD was meant to buy me something from town yesterday for a present to give today but she forgot. She's going in today on her day off!!
Washing hanging about on airers again - getting to be a regular feature here.
Hope you all have a good day. Take care. XX0 -

I found myself on my own last night, it was lovely but there was no-one to share a box of jaffa cakes with, I had to eat them all by myself
There was some mince that needed using in the fridge, so I've fried it with some onions. Will peel potatoes in a mo, I should have enough for two cottage pies, one for tea tonight and one for the freezer.
I have a Tassimo, I bought it when they first came out. It's a Braun, they don't make it anymore (well it's not on the tassimo website). I have a few boxes of coffee left, once they're gone the machine is useless, the discs for the newer machines don't fit
My dual fuel deal finishes on 11th November so I've started looking at prices for when I switch/fix. There's so many tariffs now, I don't think this is going to be an easy job
Not much to do here, everyone has been amazing tidy for the last few daysI need to do the border on my blanket, then it's finished. I'll start another one today, pram size so it won't take long.

Good morning everyone :hello:
What a wet and miserable day! I feel very sorry for the poor souls who have to go out in it at the moment, including two of my daughters who have a half hour walk to school in it.. Hubby has been packed off to work in his wet weather gear and feeling very grumbly about it.
I am supposed to be going to Weightwatchers this morning but have decided to give it a miss and stay home in the warm and dry. I've weighed myself this morning and it is as I feared, 4lb back on due to over eating and choosing rubbish food. I don't even know why it's called comfort food when I feel like poo after scoffing. I suppose it makes me feel a tiny bit better to eat when I'm feeling miserable, just wish that happy feeling would last. Anyway, I've hitched up my (very) big girl panties and I'm going to have a much better week. I have leftover stew for lunch and I've put some ingredients in the bread maker hoping for a better outcome than yesterdays attempt. You should have seen it....unmixed dough streaked through it and it looked as though someone had stepped on it from a great height. The children struggled manfully through it but I had to throw my slice away, yuk.:rotfl::rotfl: Anyway, I'm trying a new recipe so we shall see how it goes.
Hope everyone manages to have a great day, and as always gentle hugs for all who would like one.
Take care,
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Hi all,
Tonight I think I am going to be putting some things on ebay tonight!
Fed up of the weather I have to walk a mile and a half each way to work in this; so feeling down and sad atm0 -
Morning all!
Woken up to high winds and lots of rain but it's going to be nice later (she says)...
Had a very dozy wasp land on my bed just now, I absolutely hate them, chucked the dregs of DH's water out of the window and put the glass over it. Had to wait for DH to get out of the shower to dispose of it.
The worst thing is as I got in the shower I caught something out of the corner of my eye and just assumed it was my hair. Now I'm not so sure!
Work later, need to go to the bank at some point but might leave it till tomorrow - feely lazy.
Haven't decided what to do for dinner. On a food note, I was pleased Frances won GBBO
Enjoy your day.0
