Flybe. When will they release more Summer 2014 flights?

Hi

Any suggestions when I should be looking for Flybe flights from Gatwick to Newcastle for Summer 2014?

Thanks

Flybe are stopping that route from March next year
They've sold all their LGW slots IIRC
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

:( thanks that's disappointing as I'm flying out of Gatwick long haul next year. Is there likely to be an alternative carrier do you know?

I think Easyjet have bought the slots but I've no idea what routes they'll use them for.
I use the route quite a bit for work, looks like Amsterdam will be my new hub of choice

  • Looks like the train then. I suppose a trip on the train will be less in cost and possibly time too

Train may work for you if it's not too bad getting from Kings X to Victoria, I've not looked. There may be another route.

I'm not doing that every other week though.

  • The thought of 2 kids and 3 cases on the tube doesn't thrill me, but the cheap flights to LAX does. I'm sure we won't have been the only people to cross London on the tube with luggage in tow and we'll go down the night before to break the journey.

Unless anyone has any other ideas......?

I think there's a coach between Heathrow and Gatwick if that works better for you

You can get a flightlink coach from any UK airport to any other one.

Book East Coast advance tickets 12 weeks before travel to Kings Cross. No need for any tube travel, there are trains every 15 minutes on First Capital Connect from Kings Cross/St Pancras direct to Gatwick Airport. If you want to stay overnight, there are plenty of Premier Inns and Travelodges close to Kings Cross.

My warning is in respect of booking your return train, advance tickets are great value but they are only valid on the actual train booked. Please allow a lot of time for possible delays on your return journey. I presume you booked the very cheap Norwegian flights that went on sale this week? If you did, there are many people in the industry worried about the timetables, it appears a single Dreamliner is meant to operate 7 return transatlantic flights a week with the shortest turnaround times in the US of only 90 minutes. Three times a week it is supposed to be flying to JFK where delays of 60 minutes just to get to the runway are regular. Their short haul flights from Gatwick have been widely praised but their long haul flights operating from Scandanavia have been a disaster with long, long delays and cancellations. Make sure your return rail ticket is flexible!
