Cats choose their owners rather than vice versa and you can't force a cat to live somewhere it doesn't want to ;)

I have two cats currently living in my garden* one of which is semi-feral and approx 12-18mths old but the other obviously has/had a home elsewhere and is approx 3-4 yrs old and has previously had a litter of kittens. I often wonder whether she's mum to the semi-feral as they're very close and she started hanging out here not long after the younger one showed up.

*They live in my summerhouse which has plenty of warm blankets/beds and the younger one had obviously been living in there for some time before I discovered her. They won't come up to the house because of my elderly cat. She chases them away. And I doubt they'd be happy living in the house unless I installed a cat-flap as they're so used to being able to come and go as they please.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Resolved - at last!

Ginger did move in - complete mayhem. Our cat (14, rescued and rehomed last year) completely regressed and started peeing around the house, refusing to go out, growling at us, Ginger's owner uncooperative. Considering desperate measures (eg rehoming to a friend far away) but know this is illegal, and we are both by the book sort of people.

Then suddenly another neighbour said she has taken him with the owner's agreement and he seems very happy sleeping on her bed. She has had a cat flap fitted and he happily goes in and out. He is putting on weight and his coat look much better.

    Thanks for all your advice.
