Legally correct but misleading as they know full well most people will assume that the average applies to them. They certainly wouldn't expect the huge increase at the top end!
Nope why would you assume an average relates to you?
All customers affected will be contacted and provided their current and new rates so they will be given the information that directly relates to them on an individual basis.
It would be impossible to cater for every customer on a press release.0 -
They are not easier to compare - that is indisputably not true. Some may find it easier to calculate what the cost of a certain consumption is but that has zero effect on choosing between new tariffs.Standing charges are STRIKE]more cost reflective and[/STRIKE easier to compare than banded tariffs. This is one thing that Ofgem has got right.0 -
The average % quoted has nothing to do with the customers then.Nope why would you assume an average relates to you?

It would be impossible to cater for every customer on a press release.
British Gas should also quote how much their last bill would have been & % increase so people really see the increase.
The scale of increase has been hidden with the 2 changes, changes to gas rates & change to Standing Charge.
It's a scandal.0 -
Each customer could get personal quotation in their notification letters on changes.Nope why would you assume an average relates to you?

How terrible! Quite clearly it is far fairer that one hundred average households save one pound on their £1200 bill and one poorer householder pays an extra hundred pounds on their £200 bill than the other way round.Nothing wrong with SC tariffs they are fairer for all. All customers have a fixed costs associated to them that doesn't vary with usage, without them higher users would be subsidising lower users. Why should a person in a 3 bed family home subsidise someone living on their own in a one bed flat?0 -
We're not talking about the press release.Bluebirdman_of_Alcathays wrote: »They would still need to submit a press release. For which they would need an average.
Which they have provided.
We're talking about real impact on each customer & individual quotations showing real increase.0
