Hi
I'm having sky installed soon after getting the 50% off for 12 months deal. I've added multi room as my 21 year old son is still at home, but I didn't want to pay £200ish for sky plus box so have gone for a standard HD. DS now wants the plus box.... If I buy one from Ebay and it's here for the installation, what are the chances of the engineer installing it for me?? I hear that there can be problems pairing the viewing card if you swap the boxes later on?
Thanks in advance

Do also remember that Sky won't give you any warranty for the E-Bay box.0 -

Of far more importance is to have the installer give you two leads from the dish for each Sky+ you intend to have. Without a second feed, Sky+ won't be able to record one programme while you view another.

Thanks for your advice. I had read that some people had had problems with Sky being awkward about pairing a card to a box that they hadn't supplied so I thought it would be best if the engineer did it all when he came to save any hassle but it sounds as though it should be simple enough.0 -

Can anyone confirm that Sky are happy to start a multiroom subscription with a second hand Sky box? Would it still involve an engineer visiting? This would save £200 if you've already got a box.
Remember that you will also need to have both boxes connected to the phone line for multiroom.0 -
It's only a problem if the used Digibox is listed as still in contract on Sky's system. Only the seller can confirm or deny that and he might lie. So just ask Sky.0

Of course, the box will have to 'phone home (as with any new installation) which will confirm to Sky that the box is connected to the same fixed and operational 'phone line as the main subscription box.
Sky will not offer any kind of warranty on a digibox not purchased from them, however.0 -
Make sure you dont let the installer leave till your happy with the way they installed it when i had mine installed they left the coax running along the carpet couldnt even be bothered clip it down was fuming when i got home from work and saw the pigs ear of the job he did0

But if you've ordered a skyHD box for multiroom engineer will only install single core cable. Sky+ needs dual core. So even if you go buy another box then it won't do everything its supposed to like dual recording etc.
Engineer will only install what's on his job sheet as well.0 -

There is a well-tried solution to that, technically known as 'generous offer of tea and chocolate digestives'.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
