Ooooh plus, I took back 2 towels and a bag of Halloween sweets that didn't get used, so £13 refund. Not sure whether to minus this from my November grocery spend, or whether to just treat it as unexpected windfall :S

That's a bit cheeky isn't it? I can understand the towels, but the sweets? And there was nothing wrong with them? I'm surprised the shop let you do that.

To me, that's like buying... say, two jars of pasta sauce, and only using one, so taking the other back. You wouldn't. You'd just use it some other time.

Is that only strange to me?

So much for my NSW! I ran out of milk, I am using a lot less now I'm not drinking gallons of coffee but the kids still need it for cereal. Went to co-op and picked up a load of YS salmon and cod fillets for the freezer. I think I will become a YS hunter, I am quite good at making something from nothing so can make most foods into a meal. Tonight for example I had leftover gammon and veg from roast, so I made a quick white sauce (from scratch), pasta and that was tea with leftovers. I will admit I bought pepsi today which is a luxury, but it was BOGOF and so that should last a good few days.

I was a little shocked to be honest and really don't think shops should be doing this.

I have a few spends to add on when I fish out the receipts and have a mr t order coming tomorrow.

I cooked a £5 mr m gammon joint in the slow cooker on Sunday and we finished it tonight. We had it with potatoes and veg x 1, waffles, egg and beans x 2 and I made carbonara for 2 with the last bit tonight. :D

  • Ok so my toe dipping into this grocery challenge has been just that a challenge and I am not even 1 week in....

I done a stocktake...OMG how much food I have gathered. I have made a plan for a load homemade meals that are going to be frozen too.
Just done an online shop and it came to £67 (there goes the weekly budget) but in that I bought baby milk at £10.49 and advent calenders at £8 (bit extravagant I know). but if I have looked at this properly then I shouldnt need to shop next week and only need to get bits to add to meals ie veggies. so if by the end of week 2 I am at £100 then its a success. :rotfl:
