    If the employee wins with the union support does the union request the money back?

    I suspect this will depend on the rules of your union. As far as I am aware mine don't.

    Yes I think so

    But you won't know until you ask the question.

    I don't really want to hijack to much but I find it fascinating...I would suspect that the union's decision to back you because of this extra cost would need a greater probability of winning than before fees.

    I will go to the meeting if they are forcing me, but I'm on crutches and in agony. I'm not thinking straight and all I end up doing is crying when I talk about it. It's so not like me.

    I'm can't speak to the hr dept as the hr manager is on holiday this week so they couldn't hear the grievance even if I wanted them to. My colleague told me when they receive my sick not they are writing to tell me I'm not being paid.
    I feel like they've decided this before even receiving my sick note!

    pre-empt, write as much as you can, guess the questions and make sure your answers are as near to predetermined as possible

    No one is forcing you to do anything. You still have control of what you do. Write down what options you have and consider the pros and cons of each, or discuss them with your partner:

    * Attend in person
    * Make a written submission
    * Speak to HR about resigning with an agreed reference
    * Do nothing

    I'm sure others can add any more options.

    I don't want to do nothing, if anything I want them to know the truth but I'd rather resign than be dismissed.
    I'm devastated by all this. I'm prob going to do what you said and resign asking for a basic reference, although i will avoid using them as a reference at all costs.
