I am on a fixed rate with EDF until March 2014 for gas and electric, I can't decide wether to transfer now to the EDF 2017 fixed rate whilst its availabe (approx price rise £36 a month) or sit it out until the end of my fixed rate and save myself 5 months x £36.00 then see whats on offer .I plan on staying with EDF so long as they remain competitve.
. Anyone in a similar situation or have any advice?

Im in the exact same situation, there is another fix til 2015 but i dont know the comparison in cost. i;m on hold now trying to speak to them.0

It gives you the comparison cost if you view your bill online and then click change tariffs x0

I am on the same fix as you, OP, and the immediate rise by 30% for the 2017 tariff is probably too much for me to want to do.
Still considering whether to go for the Apr 2015 fix with EDF - that's a 10% rise.0 -

Likewise here, but methinks the most EDF prices will rise between now and next April is 10% so will probably fix again then - beats giving them the extra when they put up their prices shortly, as they surely will.0 -
Your situation is pretty much the same as mine with our Blue Price Promise April 2014 with the same dilemma as I posted here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4798991poor-but-happy wrote: »I am on a fixed rate with EDF until March 2014 for gas and electric, I can't decide wether to transfer now to the EDF 2017 fixed rate whilst its availabe (approx price rise £36 a month) or sit it out until the end of my fixed rate and save myself 5 months x £36.00 then see whats on offer .I plan on staying with EDF so long as they remain competitve.

But then at the end of Blue Price Promise, reverting to std tariff, even at today's charge, ramps the bill up. So one they bolt on their 10% increase - well there won't be much difference. Except for paying more straight away rather than when BPP ends.I am on the same fix as you, OP, and the immediate rise by 30% for the 2017 tariff is probably too much for me to want to do.

Same dilemma here. I'm currently paying £117 per month on Price Promise Apr 13. Their website is forcasting £134 per month on Freeze 15 tariff and £152 on Freeze 17 . Standard tariff would be £141 at the moment - but will obviously rise in the next few weeks."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

I have gone for the upgrade to the March 2017 from the March 2014 for the peace of mind if it proves to be a mistake I can always change because there is no penalty.Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

Torn on this myself.
viv0147 - as you have switched to the 2017 deal, have EDF given an indication of when the switch will actually apply from?.
Not sure as an existing customer if this switch occurs immediately.
Thanks

The switch will take place immediately, ie from the meter readings you give them.Torn on this myself.

I have yesterday switched from the fixed til march 2014 to the blue promise 2015. Like others I was undecided whether to switch or go to the end of existing tariff.
They have produced a bill today up to the changeover readings, so everything went OK.0
