In the absence of mileage info. that sounds as if it needs topping up every 2 weeks if the past 2-3 months useage has been typical. Changing to a heavier grade of oil might help. Beware of taking the car on a long motorway run - consumption could increase under those conditions.0 -

yeah we know tht now, usually do but had a lot of things on over last cple mths (knee operation, divorcing ex etc)

They might have used a generic oil which would be too fine for an old car.
A tub of the supermarket £4.99 stuff usually does the trick on this old engine .
Buy some cheap 20/40 or 20/50 and top it up with that.Be happy...;)0 -

did oil change ourselves using 5w/40w part synthetic (I think anyway)
could it be as simple as that or could it be something more sinister?0
