nPower Raising Prices 10.4% - when will fixes disappear?

nPower called back and they said the discount is applied pro-rata, so if you leave early you still get the discount for the period you were with them for.
I decided to switch to Npower price fix April 2015 also.
However I've just got a confirming email off Npower which includes the wording
That seems to be implying that if you leave Npower within 12 months, having paid by direct debit throughout then they will claw back the direct debit discount for the (say) 9 months you have been with them. Please remember, if you decide to leave us or stop meeting the conditions of the discount, e.g. you stop paying by regular payments, before the end of the first 12 months, you won’t receive your discount and you may find your payments haven’t covered the energy you’ve used
That is contrary to what you've been told. And this is not mentioned in the tarriff information on the three tabs here on the npower website or in the downloadable terms and conditions in the terms and conditions tab.
In conclusion not sure whether this is the old Npower scam still alive and kicking on this tarriff, or just bad wording on their part.
Edit: rang npower up this morning and they gave me same answer as they gave you, that the direct debit discount accrues daily and isn't dependant on staying a year (so stay 6 months paying by direct debit and then leave Npower then you get 6 months of direct debit discount rather than zero months). They say their wording isn't clear in the confirming email and will be looking to change that.I came, I saw, I melted0 -
A short squint at the top of the switching sites shows the vast majority of the 'cheapest' deals are fixed ones. Doesn't this tell you anything? The times are different since the wrong Miliband put a very bright spotlight on the energy companies a few weeks ago. It seems to have embarrassed the Govt into actually being seen to be doing summat about this rotten industry for a change. There are more variables to consider before fixing now (certainly one of the long fixes anyway). It seems almost inevitable that the burden of green initiatives will be taken away from energy bills at some stage.
Then we have the next General Election and the very real possibility that a Miliband-led Labour party will win it (and maybe with a workable majority). What happens to our energy bills then? Lots to ponder this time round.0
