I click just to the right of the circle and hold the click while moving the mouse to the centre. Once you've done it a couple of times it works all the time.

shortlist usually comes up for a MS for me so thats ok means I can be what I want if I have a hate day i'm ms if he's ok i'm mrs lol don't mean it really

Just come across this thread. I thought i was the only one. i have to click female so many times and often i have to leave it at male.
