Pay bills on time that will stop the late payment fee, set up DD that will stop the non-DD fee.

    There nice and simple.

If you are worried about not having money in your bank account to pay the bill when it arrives, then think about dropping the service or other luxuries you have until you can sort your finances out, and then don't spend more money than you have. Economising.

    if you go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/consumer/tv_and_radio/watchdog/reports/services/services_20070314_letters.shtml

there is a template letter that you can send to them, i did this and got a goodwill refund.

    give it a try.

never mind the clever a s s answer above!!!
  • It shouldn't be allowed anyway this non DD charge. People shouldn't be penalised because they want a choice as to how they pay their bills.

My payment is never late, yet I'm gonna be forced to pay via DD.

Sign up for direct debit but pay some other way, I would like to know if it works with other methods.

Someone is testing by always being in credit but not signing up to direct debit, but I have my doubts that will work.

Hmm, this is certainly interesting and something I may consider.

Let me put it this way i hate big big time paying by direct debit why ?
They send me the bill from 10th may to 10th june and the amount was £115.25 and i called them today to ask why bill is so high and after long argument with them the bill was dropped to £40.21 and they apologised for the mistake this is not first time they kept doing these kind of mistake with me last year for 5 months in row .People like me got tight budget if any extra money taken out from my account by mistake and we end up paying over draft charges .How fair is that getting forced by companies to pay by direct debit

I know VM are useless and they shouldn't charge more than they should, however you would get your overdraft charges and other fees refunded by the DD guarantee, however doesn't stop in the meantime some payments bouncing.
