Ok guys, I think NY is out for a birthday idea - due to the time of year - definitely would consider it earlier/later but for a different purpose.

I've never been to America but can't help feeling Vegas is a risk as I've heard so many different views on it.

We normally do a 7 night all inclusive holiday somewhere really cheap in May and November each year. Plus a break in the middle.

I'm wondering if maybe 10 nights somewhere really nice - like Dominican Republic, Maldives, etc... may be good.

I'm not an expert on those destinations but I'm wondering if you might struggle to get that at £1000-1200 pp.

Have done NY & Maldives, New York is great but it's expensive!

You might get a week in the Maldives BUT as TUI dropped it as a destination your booking options are greatly reduced and prices have risen accordingly. Just bear in mind that quite a few of these islands can be walked around in 20 minutes or less and entertainment is generally quiet in the evenings. If you like snorkeling then obviously it's a really great place to go.

You've picked some very different destinations so it's quite hard to tell what you are looking for :)

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

    Xmas Saver!
I spent my 30th bday in Tunisia and my 40th in Dom rep.....

For around £1k each you could pick up 2 weeks in Tunisia, hammamet is a nice area, as Yasmine Hammamet, I've had a friend that has come back from Sousse and didnt like the area but she said she liked other areas.
