One company that may be worth trying is Lily's Kitchen...they started making dog food, but now do some cat bits as well. If you go to their website and drop them and email or call them, they may well send you out some samples FOC to try to see if your cat likes them - just let them know what flavours she usually likes. You can also call their holistic vet, Holly, free of charge - she can be useful if you're worried about dietary issues, etc. The quality of their food is first rate - I worked for them very briefly (no longer) and simply cannot fault them on food quality.
I've had a very nice reply from Lily's Kitchen. They've very kindly offered me some free samples which I've accepted. The lady also tells me they have just acquired a distributor in Antrim so with any luck we'll be seeing this food in our local supermarkets and shops soon. In the meantime and as you pointed out, there's always Amazon.
Thanks again for the info.0 -

Lilys Kitchen are great. I would love to feed my cats on their food all the time.0 -
Lilys Kitchen is SO expensive - zooplus food is good - try Bozita, Animonda Carni & Smilla - much cheaper. Cheapest by far however is Butchers Classic which is sold in most supermarkets - no fillers or additives.0

Thanks for letting me know but when it comes to our babies we're not looking for the cheapest, we're looking for the best and what they like most. Lily's Kitchen foods look very promising to me, very organic. If the kitties like it then they'll be getting as much of it as they want, even if we have to live on bread and water.
Cheap to me means cheap and nasty. Now not everyone will agree with that and I suppose if our two liked the cheap stuff best then I'd let them eat it but we owe it to them to try and feed them the most nutritious food we can get - if they'll eat it.
We've gone down the road of trying to feed them raw food and it didn't work because the regal noses were well turned up at it so as far as I can see this is the next best step. If they don't like it then we'll keep them on Felix, Purina and Gourmet/Sheba (as treats) until we find something better.
We try never to forget that God has trusted us with these wee lives. They ask for so little and we always try to provide whatever they want or need.0 -

In this case, though, rita-rabbit meant it's cheap for good stuff IYSWIM. These brands are not cheap and nasty.

I made it clear that "cheap and nasty" was only my opinion. I also said very clearly: I suppose if our two liked the cheap stuff best then I'd let them eat it.
On top of that I said: not everyone will agree with that.
I included all that because I knew someone wouldn't agree with what I'd said - was I wrong?0 -

I don't know anyone that would say these brands are "cheap and nasty" (She says defensively because her cat is on Bozita :rotfl:)
Many people, would however, agree that supermarket brands like Felix, Purina and Gourmet/Sheba are. I've actually heard these referred to as the "McDonalds" of catfood.
Just my opinion.
BTW most cats will turn their nose up at decent quality food if they've been fed Felix etc. You could, if you were serious about it, wean your cat off these by mixing old brand with the new. Changing the mix gradually until it is all new.0 -

We recently started Gourmet/Sheba "treat" meals as an additional source of feed. The older one turns her nose up at the flavours she doesn't like but by and large the experiment has been a success. We're currently feeding Felix and Purina and certainly don't see them as the cheapest available.
Our two are generally receptive to new things. Or if they get bored with something they've had for a while we stop feeding it to them for a couple of weeks then start again and lo and behold, they like it again.
It's because we know our kitties so well that we're going to try them on Lily's Kitchen. Our opinion is that if they like it - fine. If not, we won't feed it to them.
Cat's Rule! :rotfl:0
