    hi all,

i finally got through to a human on their number and requested a full refund of the deal and the "membership" i didn't authorised, that i actually had no idea about. I closed the account on the basis that they have not honoured their deal!!

Previous to this i have put in a dispute of the charges with my bank, given i couldn't get hold of anyone. So hotcrazydeal has 1 week (their time frame) to issue the refund or i will continue with the dispute.

    Hope this helps!!

trust me your account will be valid as long as they hold your card details, we also had no idea of that "membership", talked to them, got cancellation message but guess what happened today... Another £29.90 charge.................

it looks like they are scamming oyster, major supermarkets etc into giving them refund vouchers and then flogging them onto the punter. The terms and conditions of these things always say that they are non-transferrable and so the odds are that you will be caught out if you use them enough to make the £30 monthly subscription worthwhile!

I am 80% sure that it is fraud if you use such vouchers and if you are using them enough to make a £30 subscription to panama worthwhile, the supermarkets may think it is worthwhile reporting you to the police!

we never got the money back... It's all about that "membership" fee...
  • i still never received the £30 cashback after purhasing the offer, however i've not been charged the £29.90 because i unsubscribed before the 72 hour deadline, and it's been way over a month since the whole subscription happened. Either way, i'm pleased i've not encountered the monthly charges but would still like the money i bought the deal for, as i was charged £4 originally. Is it worth still contacting them for the £30 or not?

i'd say you're lucky canceling into these 72hrs deadline, and since you've done it there's no logic you'll get back your money... Stay away as they maybe thought you'd want your "membership" back....

I have unknowingly made a purchase on this website.

Would anyone have any advice for me: I have contacted the bank and asked them not to allow any unauthorized debit orders to be set up and have given them the website's name. They have said that they will make a note of this, although they cannot guarantee anything. Do I have any kind of protection against these people?

Is this not that the bank has made enough or is there something more that I should/could do?

    I'd really appreciate any advice

Did you eventually have your Refund?
I have requested a refund as they did the same to me. and since cancelling my subscription they have taken another £29.90 from my account so that's 2 payments of £29.90 in one month! have contacted my bank to stop any further payments to be taken out. Phoned Hot Crazy Deals again to ask for a refund of the additional £29.90. Sorry I ever laid eyes on the website now!

    dont do it.

even if you jump through ALL their hoops within the timeframe that they set, you will ONLY get your refund of £30 if you have paid them the £29.90 membership fee. I cant say the following loud enough...
it is IMPOSSIBLE to receive their £30 deal for £1 if you have only taken the free trial membership

and I have proof of that

So it took the MSE News Team three months to look into it? Well done. They are certainly proactive aren't they?
  • I bought their oyster deal as well and got charged £29.90 about 2 weeks later. When I noticed the missing money I emailed them saying I will talk to the bank and will report them to the police if they don't refund my money. Called the bank (HSBC) next morning and opened a dispute. The bank said I should chase the company, they will do the same and in the mean time they will cancel their right to get more money from my account.
Few days later I wrote HCD another email, saying, that their site says 100% satisfaction guarantee and I am not satisfied at all. I told them about my previous email and that I am being ignored and they should refund my money.
I got a reply to my second email saying that my refund is being processed and I should have the money shortly. Two days later I have the money in my account. They even sent me the £4 back, which I have not asked for.
As for the deal I have not added £30 to my oyster card and sent them the receipt, so basically they refunded everything to me as if the whole transaction have never happened.
Do not give up and loose faith folks!

Hot Crazy Deals - don't go near this company, I too got conned by their oyster card offer. So I've paid them £4 and since then they have taken two lots of £29.90 off my CC. My CC company are supposed to have blocked them but they still managed to get the money, which is now in dispute. I never signed up to any subscription and am jot a member!
