Calling mobiles abroad

I would like to know what is the cheapest way to call and text to a mobile abroad?

Martin's Callchecker shows 1899 @ 15p and Alpha Telecom @ 17p. All the other providers have 0911 numbers which cost more from mobiles. Either of these require setting up an account; 1899 is easy to do online.

So Orange's rate is fairly good already; but if you will make quite a lot of calls they have an option to block pay foreign calls and texts up front, and give you 20 % extra, which means the effective price is 16.66p per minute. I can't remember all the block sizes, but I think they range from £5 upwards, and stay valid for 6 months. Ask Orange international enquiries on 1590
