Cheap New York Holiday?

Looking to save up to go to New York next year. I haven't been on holiday for years.

Any cheap deals around? I have mobility problems so preferably a hotel not too far from the main attraction areas.

What do you consider "cheap?" As in for a hotel, and what area exactly, as it's a mighty big place with huge attractions everywhere.

I've never visited for holiday, but did live and work there for six years so I could give some tips.

It can be done anywhere you go (on the cheap) but the big question is what is the minimum you're willing to settle for.

For me I don't care about accommodation at all, as long as it's in a decent location and I can sleep without getting felt up in the night.

I'm looking to go for a few weeks to have the time to see everything. I'm not that bothered about the accommodation either as long as it's not too noisy and I get a decent nights sleep. I have a budget of £1K-£1.5K

I assume that's not including airfare.

14 days (or 21 days) divided by £1,000 (or £1,500) = about £70 per day to live on, which means you're looking at youth hostels.

    I found this hotel

Seems reasonable, 21 days for just over a grand!

Looks brilliant to me! Private room with shared bath for that price is a real steal.

Funnily enough that location is about 6 blocks from where I used to work. It's an unbelievable spot to be based in for exploring the city. You're right around a major subway hub that will get you anywhere.

Heck if it was me, I'd jump on it!

You don't really need more than 7/10 days if you do lots of things each day.
