She is 71, and has a very tight budget and I dont think she could afford a loan.

If she is not on any benefits then she can't be on a tight budget since her income must be too high unless she is just not claiming them. Have you checked she is getting all she is entitled to?

    Who condemned the boiler?

Try age concern, they will know about any help available for a boiler.

Cross posted with Ken68 I meant age uk, forgot they changed the name.

I take it she has some electric heating, ie she has something to keep the chill off and she will have her kettle - are there not some Green Deals about that she can use?

Heating one or two rooms with electric heaters really isn't THAT expensive, especially whilst the weather is on the mild side and provided you keep the temperatures reasonable. So many people plug a heater in, turn it on full and then complain about big bills. I can tell you from experience as my boiler is currently broken and I am using electric only and really not finding the running costs prohibitive.

Same with me my motherinlaw she got no heating the water cut off,the electrics fused by the leaking roof the doors jammed and she cant get out..the landlord wont fix the toilets..her washing machine broke down after 6 months and cant get a independent report on the fault. Tesco mis priced her groceries and over charged her. She grassed on the neighbour for working and claiming benefits s and she getting harrased by them......
What shall I do can someone give me advice

Don't worry. At that age she would have grown up without Central Heating and will know how to cope. :)

Perhaps you too could learn from her? You never know, one day you or someone else you know may find themselves in a similar position, and then you'll know how to cope.
