dropped kerb parking
We parked against a dropped kerb in Cleethorpes we appealed on the grounds our daughter was taken ill, still no compassion, we were observed at 1957 and ticket issued at 2001, there are no signs about it so do we have a case, also next to the dropped kerb is a large weed which covers75% of the pavement, should we just pay it

Shouldnt have parked next to the kerb as its considered an access to somewhere regaddless of if it is0

Issued by council or not?
It's only an offence if on double yellow lines, double red lines or if you prevent vehicles leaving the driveway (not entering).
At least this is what you'd be told if someone parked in front of your driveway at home and even then you'd be pointed toward the Police, who in turn would probably tell you it's a domestic matter (in other words "sort it out yourself").

You should post this in the Parking Tickets froum, not Motoring, for some sensible advice. Pepipoo is also a good place - esp if this was a council ticket0 -
You're not allowed to park adjacent to dropped kerbs, at least not in special enforcement areas (ie places with civil parking enforcement, most cities and large towns these days). No signs are required - the dropped kerb itself creates the restriction.

There are a few exceptions - loading, setting down passengers, and you're allowed to,block your own drive - but nothing specifically relating to an ill passenger.0 -
Pay up.
The legislation which allows local authorities to issue Penalty Charge Notices to vehicles parked across kerbs is the Traffic Management Act 2004. Parking across certain dropped kerbs is also contrary to Highway Code rule 243"enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0 -
All i can say to you Jane is P**S off
That's not very nice now is it? And yet you have thanked their post
I'm not surprised that she has no sympathy for you getting a ticket as in her other thread she has had problems with people blocking her drive, so the subject is probably a bit of a soar point with her.0
