I am afraid that that really does not look like a safe or remotely effective way of drying clothes. Would they not also have a horrible sulphurous smell, too? As well as ending up in tatters?

(;) That's what the link on the first post is pointing to now.)

I did, but have been at work all day and did copious amounts of washing this weekend so have no plans to plug it in until November!

Its a shame I don't have the space for a big airer, I've been looking at the lakeland headed ones as I've seen lots of good reviews for them.

You can half-open them (i.e. only open one side or the other) - but that does seem rather a waste of money for a full airer ...
  • I have the biggest Lakeland one, it can pretty much take a full load, it won't get the washing dried in a hurry but I do rate it. We don't have radiators so it's a boon to us.
  • So is the rating stamped on it this time? Last year's model appeared to be 100W but I suspect it consumed more like 400W.
