What do with some old cheques of UK banks?

dont try and present it to the teller as they will flat out reject it
pay it in via the machine if you're going to chance it.0 -
If you are (or were) running a business at the time how have you let these cheques sit there for that long?Interests: PCs. servers, networks, mobiles and music (esp. trance)0

When the machine reads the cheque it still has to be approved by a member of staff (usually an senior experienced one because most cheque fraud occurs this way)
OP, just destroy the cheques.0 -

In that case I do not want to present it. I will provide the details of the cheque to my bank and wait for the response from the bank.

If you ask them they will tell you that the cheques are out of date and stale.
If you want the money YOU will have to contact the drawers of the cheques and ask for new ones. Some accounts may be closed and will not reply to you - up to you to make the effort.0 -

I didnt say it was reasonable but said that not everyone will immediately quote the statute of limitations and tell you to go away. I've certainly both had a company rewrite a cheque for me and have rewritten an old cheque for others.0
