Hi All,
Last week I switched to the Npower November 2014 price fix.
Its been showing switch in progress ever since, and I've not heard a thing.
Anyone know if this is normal or if I should be doing something different.
Thanks

If it's anything like my switch you won't hear anything for months and will only receive cashback after six months and many many emails with CEC trying to fob you off at every turn0 -

I would think twice before switching with them again.
The whole switching thing winds me up anyway, if you switch every 3 months and get £30 a time in cashback then £10 a month of your bill is going to pay cashback! Crazy. Why we can't just accept privatised energy companies have failed and renationalise I don't know.0 -
I tried switching last week and am yet to hear anything. No idea if it's going to be successful or not. If MSE are providing such a service then surely they should offer some support!0

Call the companies in question and ask if there is an application for your name & address on their system. If one doesn't appear after two weeks, switch again via another website.
Unless they're offering cashback that you can't get elsewhere, I really wouldn't recommend switching via CEC.0 -
I did the same thing last week as well, I wonder if the stalling is because that NPower has just announced a 11.1% rise in electricity prices?
Is the price quoted last week still valid? we need some answers Martin!0 -
Like to echo the above. Not interested in the cash back I went for long term fix to 2017 with Npower on 10thOctober, the Day SSE announced price hikes.
Heard nothing since from NPower and MSE site says nothing about what the original NPower rates were, just the comparative costs. Today NPower announce an 11% price hike, and now I have no idea whether I have avoided this or fell into a trap.
Since MSE created the inducement for me to change, I'd suggest there is perhaps an obligation there to clarify matters regarding original rates and switching progress.0 -
I echo the above concern. Martin is on the TV every day now rightly saying how the politicians need to get their advice precisely right. It must be "Cheap Fixed". He was also encouraging everyone to do it and "do it now." On Friday I therefore used his MoneySavingsExpert/CEC process (which I thought was good) to switch to Scottish Power. I completed it and it said "switch in progress" but gave no reference number. Just said effectively wait for up to 5 days for the new supplier to post a package to you. So its an act of faith. There is a disparity here between the enthusiasm and energy that Martin is portraying on the TV and the lackadaisical black hole that CEC drop you into at the end of their online switch conversation. I tried ringing the supplier twice. The first time ended up in new business who said I should get the package but they couldn't check if they had received the applicatiom. He suggested I ring their customer services number which I did and was on hold for 30 minutes before giving up. Given that npower has increased today I can't take the chance of 'faith' in the black hole so I will need to initiate a direct switch.0

I have a similar problem. Used CEC to switch from Co-Op to NPower back in March. Actually the switch itself went through fine, but the CEC site still says that my switch is "in process". I emailed CEC two weeks ago and got a reply saying they'd chase it with NPower and MoneySupermarket (through whom the switch was actually made) but have heard nothing since, despite a follow-up email from me 5 days ago. Since CEC thinks my switch is in process, I can't use the site to compare for another switch - the option isn't there.0
