Got Compensation - Monarch

Just wanted to post a BIG thank you to all who offered advice after my family holiday flight had been delayed by 8 hours coming back from Crete in August.
I used the templated letter to Monarch, got a reply asking me to fill in 4 forms. Completed and sent them back and then got an email telling me it would be 28 days before I heard anything else.
Kept all records thinking it was going to be a long process, but at day 26 out of 28 a cheque landed for £1341!!
Happy Days. I would not have done that without the MSE website and the forum advice.
For anybody else affected by long delays, do not give up and keep the faith.

Hi
Yes, set up a temp one as wasn't sure I'd use it, but now avid reader of all things MSE! :-)
The flight was MON3789 on 13th August 2013 from Chania (Crete) to Manchester.0 -
Fadedbryan, I have just sent you a PM asking you details of your other user name so i can find your posts.
All
I am looking into making a claim against Monarch for a 3 hour 17minute delay in actual time arriving in Spain, on flight number ZB 742 on Sun 25 Aug 2013 from London Gatwick to Malaga (AGP) airport Spain.
After trawling the threads I was not sure if I should proceed or not, but fadedbryans message gives me hope.
Cheers

just had this reply from monarch 5 hour dealy
Our records show that the aircraft that was scheduled to operate your flight developed a hydraulic quantity indication defect just prior to departure for Sharm El Sheikh on its previous flight. This rendered the aircraft unserviceable and unsafe to operate until the blue quantity transmitter could be replaced. Unfortunately, the delay then impacted on the crew’s permitted flying hours and this resulted in the aircraft having to night stop in Sharm El Sheikh, until the crew were legally able to resume their flying duties.
is this right ? can i appeal ? all advise greatfully accepted thanks

No not correct. Hydraulic problems commonplace NOT extraordinary. You cannot appeal but have to decide whether to go to court via NWNF or under your own steam or you could walk away. Might also be worth looking at https://www.facebook.com/MonarchComplaints
to see if anyone on same flight which may give you more confidence in which direction to go.
ps this is the correct thread ->https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/43845830 -
