Carcraft daylight robbery!

Options
Hi,

I'm hoping someone can please help? My dad traded his old car in and bought another via Carcraft in the West Midlands, taking out an extra cover policy for x5 'premium' mot's, RAC cover etc costing an extra £4000 on top of the price of the car he purchased.

Long story short, my father took advantage of the premium mot service this week, handed over his car complete with its contents and then collected the vehicle when told to so. When he collected his Nissan Qashqai he noticed the mot certificate stated 'couldn't get to some components on the engine due to covers' and his spare wheel which was aluminium and had a brand new tyre on it was missing!

He called the branch straight away and there response was the fitter said there wasn't a spare wheel in the car so prove it. How the hell can they get away with stealing his spare tyre and how do we know a proper mot check has been done on his Nissan if they couldn't get to some of the components?

Fuming.com does anyone know how I can escalate this further please to especially get back his stolen tyre?

Report the theft to the police. No guarantee that they will do anything about it.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Under trays are never removed as part of an MOT.

But this does not stop a sneaky mechanic from removing it and taking the wheel

I was referring to the test saying not all parts inpected, rather than the tyre issue.

    Not credible.

Surely the extra £4,000 is the most shocking part of this tale?!

    Perfectly credible.

I thought mine had a spare wheel in it before it went to a local garage to fix a piece of trim, and it came back with nothing in the boot.

I later found it was on the fleet managers car for few days, but a new wheel/tyre on my car would be in excess of £1000. I didn't accuse them, but it was perfectly credible IMO, as they had the car for several hours.

    That's what I thought, too!

  • The covers advisory is perfectly normal - they're not allowed to remove any covers as part of the MOT.
