There are strong arguments for and against animal testing, but if you don't agree with the petition, just don't sign it..! Simples.

What are the strong arguments against animal testing for medical advancement?

('Strong' please, not just 'but animals are cute.)
  • The Dr Hadwen Trust is the leading UK non-animal research charity and there is a lot of information on their website.

Animal testing for cosmetics - Not necessary, in fact repulsive.

Animal testing on drugs that might one day save my child's life - Yes of course, I have no problem with it.

That sums up my position too.

    Signed.

Thanks OP for drawing attention to the petition. :)
Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.

    I've already signed it.
because I don't arrogantly think we are so superior to the animal world we can use them in experiments to benefit humans.

I'm against testing on dogs under any circumstances whatsoever, even if the drug would save mine or a dear one's life.

To my mind testing on dogs is worse than on apes or any other animal. Apes don't expect anything from humans. They are wild animals. Dogs expect kindness and love/positive expectations of people, they've been bred over thousands of years to want to be close to us. To experiment on them is a complete betrayal of their assistance over those thousands of years.

If testing HAS to be done(and for the most part i hate experiments on animals to the point i donate every month to the NAVS)then it should be carried out on mice and rats only, and with the maximum pain relief possible. The way the animals are kept is appalling to many sentient creatures, apes in particular suffer terrible stress being caged up just because they ARE wild.

There are many alternatives and this is what we should be supporting

How some of the researchers sleep at night knowing how much pain they have inflicted is beyond me.

I am assuming that those who are against it take no medication, nor would accept any life saving interventions for themselves or their loved ones?
