  • Hi

I have tried reading through this thread but there's a lot of info to go through. I send occasional amounts of Euros to a person I buy from in Holland. The figure is between €600 and €1200 each time and I have posted the payments before but this is risky as they cannot be insured. Is there a cheap and reliable way I can arrange it, I trust the bloke but can't put him to too much trouble.

    Any advice appreciated.

  • Don't worry: he just needs to drop his bank a line once in a decade to confirm that they have his correct address and that he wants to keep the balance.
Thank you. But he wants to move his money to a better bank (for a
better return, as Martin keeps advising us!). Why shouldn't he be allowed to do this? Its so frustrating.

    Hi,

My parents have around 130K Euros to transfer back to GBP (sold a house in Spain - apparently just at the right time!).

What's the best way? Would people recommend https://www.gcen.co.uk, or https://www.justeuros.co.uk ?

Or are they better off doing it through their bank (apparently not by the comments I have seen here!)

    Thanks!

Hi - could anyone recommend the best way to bring over money from South Africa, please? I have a bank account there, and would have received permission under the Lifetime allowance/Exchange Controls/Inland Revenue rules. Usually I just do it via a bank transfer, but people here are saying it's expensive to do that.

Any help would be gratefully received.

    Many thanks

Are you sure he wants STERLING?
Yanks think the only currency in the world is the old greenback.
  • Has anyone used a company called Currency Solutions? I am about to put a large sum of euros in their account to convert to sterling. Thanks

  • Hello All

I've been living in the UK for allmost 2 years time and I pay taxes on my wages in this country. Before this I used to live in Australia for about 8 years where I used to pay taxes while employed there. I'm originaly from Poland.
I've got some funds in my bank account in Australia which have been earning some interest there since I left Australia.
I would like to transfer those funds into my UK bank account.
Will I be liable to pay any taxes on the interest earned during these 2 years time to the UK government if I don't pay them to the Australian government or will I be able to avoid paying any taxes on interest earned all together?
If I was to have a choice and pay somewhere these taxes and I chose to pay them to the Australian government I wouldn't probably have to pay anything at all as during this period of time I wasn't earning any income in Australia and I would probabaly be exempted from paying anything as my yearly income from this interest would be significantly lower than yearly tax free treshold set by the Australian government.
I would appreciate if you help me with this.
