hope this fits the mse thread criteria

anyhow just more news from the bbc website about us being the most expensive place in uk for petrol, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-24579046
what gets me is that tescos, sainsburys etc set different prices in different towns here, yes i understand competition between supermarkets but when same supermarket charges different prices
This is proposterous. You're making it sound like the likes of Tescos and ASDA are deliberately and cynically exploiting people to make massive profits.0 -

I believe that the price is affected by the transport costs from the refinery/port. So you tend to get higher prices the further you are away from Belfast.0 -

I agree but we're only talking about Newcastle, Lurgan and Portadown here - 40 miles(ish)?0 -

Nothing to do with them exploiting local communities then?0 -
Shocking when it can be bought elsewhere at £1.25. Must be old stock and I bet they're kicking themselves.

I'd say not - its always about 5 p dearer than every where else around Newcastle - I always fill up in the self service one in Carryduff on my way home from Belfast.
Newcastle/Castlewellan and onwards towards Newry always seems more expensive than other places - probably due to competition - there is no supermarket petrol stations to bring the prices lower.Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
Carrickfergus, pay at pump £1.270
