All insurance companies have a decent web portal - like Swiftcover - where you can make changes without the admin fee. Swiftcover only charge the admin fee if you phone to make a change
I used swift cover for the first time this year and this has been the cheapest insurance I have ever had in 20+ years of driving. Under £200 a year.
Never had to contact an insurance company in 20 years of driving except to arrange the cover in the first instance or to tell them to stick their renewal where the Sun doesn't shine so can not compare the customer service of any of them, if it wasn't a legal requirement I wouldn't bother with it.0 -
if they're no cheaper next year, you can cancel the renewal online as well!0

Which is the same as Axa - I added business cover earlier in the year with about 11 months remaining and it was about £18 odd, ideal with no admin fee.
A few nights ago I did a quote for the intention of putting my private plate on the car. Couldn't do it when I bought the car last month due to time so I put it on retention.
Quote was £37.95 with only 25% of the policy remaining. Considering the policy cost £289 this is shafting the customer of the highest order.0 -
I had exactly the same issue earlier this year, changed cars mid-policy... went from a grp 20+ 300bhp Subaru Impreza valued at £10,000 down to humble grp 15 Renault clio valued at only £2,500 yet they wanted an additional £55 off me for the ''increased risk''.0

I'm in the process of trading in a Corsa for a Fiesta, and to switch Swiftcover charged me ... £1.56!!0

WOW, three mentions of Swiftcover and all of them good
Must be a record, maybe leopards can change their spots0 -
none of them were about making claims though..............
but just to even it up a bit. Swiftcover have been expensive this time around, renewal price was £150 more than my cheapest quotes, and quotes for winter cars have been expensive as well.0 -
I've just been on line to change my address which is 0.2 miles from my old address and takes less than 1 minute in a car. On line it failed to mention any charges for this change until I received an email stating that they would debit my account £128 for the change of address! I've been told that this is a higher risk area, but on the insurance fee scale for location, its the same figure as my old address! What a CON and what can I do?0

Don't move or cancel and go with another insurance although there will be cancellation charges.
And you wont earn any no claims for the incomplete year.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

And most would probably want this but the problem is that most insurers have been around since before the web existed and their IT architecture isnt suitable for the 24/7 world of the internet.
Almost all have bodged something together to be able to sell online but online servicing is a holy grail for many. Not explictly Swiftcover as I havent spoken to their web manager in a few years but some of the other "online servicing" sites are faked, they basically generate an email or work queue item for a real person to key the change into the system the next day (in at least one case, it is an email as they dont have workflow systems)0
