Life should be a little nuts; otherwise it's just a bunch of Thursdays strung together.0

Hi Grumbler
Yes I was hoping that something new might have come up since the article was written.
As I said £3000 is too small for currency brokers and very expensive if I use a bank or Western Union.0 -
Well, if you really want to save money and there is no rush why don't you want to use Nationwide cash card as it is discribed in the article and on the first page of this thread?0

Has anyone tried
https://www.ikobo.com
I always use them.
Initially you have to get the 'Ikobo' card to the recipient but after that it all works seamlessly. I top up with the credit card. Unfortunatley they only accept Visa not Mastercard. But I have never had any trouble.0 -
I have been involved in charities in Africa and my wife is from Madagascar.
We have tried all of the well known money transfer services on the net.
The best I have found by far is Moneybookers especially as they deal with poorer countries unlike Paypal. Their charges are cheapest if you take the 0.8% from mid spread on exchange rates. 1% to send ( max Euro 0.50 cents )and Euro 1.80 to withdraw.
Setting up is easy but you must fax ID and bank account proof (statement) before you can withdraw funds. Otherwise validate with a small upload (not possible from many recipient countries).
I support a kids home in Nairobi where all funds go direct to support orphan street kids. Moneybookers enables anyone to sponsor/support them with very small amounts. If your interested go to https://www.hurumachildrenshome.org.
They are genuine and dont waste (or steal) the cash and there are no middlemen as with most charities.
You can also support them by using their link
https://www.moneybookers.com/app/?rid=525111 to sign up with moneybookers
otherwise go to moneybookers.com direct.

I would like to send money to some friends in Zimbabwe. I want to do so on a regular basis and wondered if anyone out there has some good ideas on the cheapest way to do this? Obviously I would like my friends to benefit from as much of the funds as possible!
Most gratefully.....0 -
Start with reading 'Sending Money Overseas: Moving money large or small' article and Sending money overseas discussion area
EDIT: As threads have been merged, my advice to read discussion can look very funny ...0 -
ISXFX.com has been very cost effective
for sending money abroad, in my case to Euroland, but they seem to have changed their phone numbers and all I get from the number on their website is an answer-phone message which does not give the company name. Does anyone know if they are still in business?

They were in the process of moving offices but within the same building, when I used them in June, their phone no was 0207 936 9562. Have you tried emailing them?0
