  • Yes there is a sizable difference between the two, but as your son is nine the 360 is more than good enough for him

The Xbox 360 and upcoming Xbox One are completely different beasts.

The Xbox 360 will be supported for a while yet.

    Hi

The new Xbox due out next month is the Xbox one complete with Kinect. While it may be a great new addition to the Xbox family it IMO is not the be all and end all of the gaming machine needs. My son {FAR older than yours has the standard Xbox {and has had for many years} and only now is starting to think that sometime next year he MAY go for the new set up.
Like most of these new machines when they first come on the market have teething problems so IMO it is far better to wait {unless people have more money than sense} for the niggles to be sorted out.
I think your son would be more than happy with the one that you are looking at and there are plenty of games {either new or pre owned} on the market that will keep him {and you} happy during the long winer months :0)
  • The 360 has tons of life left in it yet, is far more advanced than the Wii, and has a huge selection of cheap second hand games to keep costs down (an advantage I believe the XBone doen't have). If my 360 packed in tomorrow I would replace it with another in a heartbeat.
    Out on blue six..
It's Chips and Jackets, Peas and Trousers.
  • I wouldn't even consider the Xbox One at this point.

Look at the Xbox 360 but also maybe the Playstation 3 - have a look at the controllers for both as the PS3 pad might be easier for smaller hands.

When you say supported for a while, what do you mean ?

The online environment (Xbox Live) will still be available/supported so games can still be played over the internet.
There will still be games developed/released. Although new releases will wind down there are still hundreds of games to choose from.
