Maybe you could make a forum search?0 -
We must apologise for the failure of our magical ball, but we can't predict what FD will say to you.
If you search the forum you can check out the history, but that's not going to tell you what the future holds.
To get a definitive answer, call them up. It'll take less time than hitting the reply button. Alternatively, if you don't like phones, send them a secure message.0 -
they along to reply to a secure message. and 0845 numbers are costly...so thought this would be easier.0

Not that costly, but according to their 'contact' page, their alternative to the 0845 number is 0113 234 5678. You may even still qualify as a 'new customer', so I would try the 0800 number first.0 -
I would like to leave for no other reason than I miss the branch, and the 'indirect' route isn't working so well for me - is that good enough to receive the £100 'not happy & leaving' gift??
Surely they can not refuse this, the wordings is very simple and clear, "if your not happy and wish to leave, we will give you £100" or something to that effect (providing you have 6 months of £1k+ paid in of course)0 -
You know that you can use HSBC Branches and the Post Office? Why is that, combined with the apparently legendary telephone service, not enough? What things do you need to do that you can't do? What disadvantages have you experienced because you couldn't go into a building with a First Direct logo? How much has it cost you (in ££) that there are no FD Branches?
You knew when you first signed up that there are no FD branches. So it seems a bit obvious that the only reason you want to leave is to bag the £100.0 -

People on here have reported that things like "no branches" and "low interest rates" have been rejected as reasons for not liking FD and claiming the £100, as they are things that you would/should have known before coming to them, rather than something you found out while with them that you're dissatisfied about.urs sinserly,

Its a good enough reason to leave, but it's not a good enough reason to claim the £100 leaving gift.
If you miss the branch you can always walk into any HSBC branch and say "Hi!".0 -
well my excuse is genuine even though they may claim its not their customer service error as it would be a technical glitch. but even so, I think it should be enough and also my reason would be the changes to the terms and conditions regarding dds.
do you think that will be enough?0 -
Try it and let us know.
as a side question, which bank will you be switching to?0
