This sort of thing can happen to you at any bank, depending on the transaction you are making. For new customers, security checks are likely to be more stringent, too.

However, if you are unhappy, you should tell them, in writing, and notify them that you have instructed the xyz bank to switch your account away from FD.

There is no reason why you shouldn't get your leaving £100 if you have complied with the terms of the offer, and if you have a convincing reason, or if you annoy them so much that they are glad to see the back of you.

I understand that but its the first time ive had this done. also I think I need to notify first direct to switch the account to a new provider as that's part of the agreement. fd need to help you switch in order to get the £100. £100 is a lot of money, think about how many x-mas presents I can buy...not to mention my money is on hold for god knows how long so it would be good compensation for the inconvenience caused!

So you're not backing a loser, I assume you've paid in your "salary or income of at least £1,000 (or whatever) per month" for the last 6 months?...ie there's been 6 monthly credits.

God says it is 7 days under the new switching offer.

But there is nothing to stop you transferring out all your money beforehand, and to move some or all of your SOs and DDs to a new account yourself before you even ask for the switcher service.

yes salary has been paid in every month without fail. otherwise I would have had to pay £10 per month.

well that was my original question, I switched beginning of the year. so unsure whether it would be under new switching offer or whether old one?

Not necessarily. Only if you didn't read the T&Cs (ie didn't open a qualifying product [such as an eSaver account] for the fee waiver).

yes I know about the savings account, but I didn't bother as I have the 5% from flexdirect and an cash isa anyway which beats all the isas and all other savings accounts!!! (as far as im aware.)
  • so will I be put on the old switching process and taking 4 weeks to shut my account since I used the old process to switch to fd in the first place....unsure here?

I think you are confused, and you don't seem to be reading the responses you got.

Why don't you call FD and ask them - after all, it doesn't matter what we discuss on a forum because FD will decide what they will decide.
  • I thought someone who had closed there fd account can perhaps shed some light so I know what to expect but...i take it, posting on here was a waste of time then....
