Best 46 inch television

Options
We are wanting to change our current television for a 46 inch, full HD good brand telly. We do not want a Smart tv or 3D.

So far we have looked at the Sony Bravia KDL46R473 and the SamsungUE46F5000.

The Sony one does not have a very good write up on it.Has anyone got anything similar and could give us their honest opinion on what to get?

Yep - that's what I did and thoroughly recommend this course of action.

This is a Panasonic model I recommended worth checking out on a similar thread: -

  • There are plenty of other makes which are just as good as Panasonic. Rejecting a TV on the basis that it has SMART features is not recommended, as this is becoming standard with most new TVs.

Thanks all.But like i said we don't really want or need the smart features nor the 3D as we are trying to keep the cost down and the number of extra features to cut down the chance of something failing or being a bit too complicated to use!

We were all set to buy a sony from John Lewis until we read the reviews on it.

    Appreciate your input though.

Appreciate what you're saying Froglet. I don't use the smart features on my TV.

Can you not just ignore the smart stuff so long as the TV gives you what you do want and is the right price? Smart stuff is really just software so unlikely to break down as it were.

Just to reinforce - Nowadays, especially on large TVs, you'll find it difficult to get a TV that DOESN'T claim to be smart in some way. Just ignore it. Look for the best picture, and the right inputs, everything else can be fixed or added, including 'smartness' and sound.

But we are not prepared to pay up to an extra £200 for something we don't need.

This is the one we are favouring at the moment and it is £490. or more depending on who we trust to deliver it.

So i am watching the price for a bit to see if it comes down.

That's not the case. You are paying for a better TV with added SMART features, not the same TV but with something you don't need. Before long, even the cheapest TVs will come with these SMART features.

You're not going to say Sony, LG, Samsung, etc are you ? :rotfl::rotfl:
