Avoid Match.com

Hi,
I 've just rang match.com to cancel my subscription, one day late. Not only do I not get back the £25 installment I paid yesterday but they made me pay another £55 for the 2 installments to come to cover a 6 month period. These people are thugs, avoid MATCH!

Why would they repay you if you didn't cancel in time? Hardly makes them thugs.0

wish you had posted this 4 and bit years ago - would have saved me from being married to a man who thinks its fun to start his movember whiskers now :eek:0

Also met my hubby over match. Never had any problem cancelling and never got overcharged.0

My friend met her partner through match a year ago - still blissfully happy and trying for a baby

Also can't see why you'd expect a refund if late cancelling. I'd fight for a Maccy-d's breakfast 30 seconds after 10.30am maybe, but a day late to cancel a subscription? No chance. And hardly worthy of an 'avoid' campaign!
Did you sign up for six months and that's what they're making you pay? Bit confused re that bit. If you signed for six months and got that price, surely you'd know you'd have to pay the six months' cost?

It's not just Match, there are horror stories all over the Net and regular Tv programmes that warn people of the financial dangers of paid-for dating sites.

The exact same thing happened to me, I was furious as had enough of the site and me wasting time meeting inappropriate men....then only one week later received a message from a man whose profile I had never seen...almost 5 years later we have just married. I am so so thankful for their nasty trick!0

Dating sites are notorious for this sort of thing. And the crazy thing is, you don't have to pay at all - there are plenty of free sites."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. When it comes to history, it will be the people who broke the law for freedom that will be remembered and honoured." --Rt. Hon. Tony Benn0
