I started comping September last year, but didn't get my first win until December.

Had been winning regularly this year, until Mid- August, nothing since. But that's how it goes.

I've been comping for years even before internet days when all entries were postal. I've won only a few small prizes and worth no more that £50 but I don't give up. If your disappointed after such a short time you're not really cut out for comping.
Here's hoping for my first big win!! well one can dream:rotfl:

It took me 4 months before I had my first win, so don't loose hope yet. I do understand what you mean though it does get to you some times.

You could also do surveys if you don't all ready?

  • I started coming in June and the first 4 months were AMAZING (won about £2000's worth of stuff in total) but this month absolutely nothing and has been terrible even though I've been entering the same amount there's just no guarantee and I hate my job but remember it's all luck with comps with a job at least you know you will get something out of it

I started in feb and I didn't get my first win until April I think it was, that was £100 to spend in Next, I then won a Revlon bundle in May, £500 John Lewis Vouchers in August and most recently this month I got a runner up prize of kids bath stuff and the Jelly Belly UK instant win (Which I have no idea what it is) so my win total is probably around £700 not bad considering its "free" I used the Next vouchers for summer clothes and JL for xmas gifts and some treats for myself.

Don't be disheartened, when I first started I had dreams of winning cars, holidays, cash, vouchers etc but in reality its not really like that, yes people do get good wins and its lovely seeing MSErs win them but the chances are slim, however you've got to be in it to win it and see it as a hobby which occasionally "pays out" rather than a chore. I am now around 7 months into it and I am actually addicted to comping!

I've been comping for a couple of years - maybe 30 a day - and have won nothing.

Like the others said, it's really more of a hobby than anything else. If I do ever win anything, I can't imagine it would ever make up for wages. There is always hope, but I'm afraid hope doesn't pay the bills...

I have started comping just after work if I get a few hours. I started in March, and only did it for about a month and won a meal out and tickets to see gadget show live. They weren't amazing wins - but I only really stumbled across comping as something to do. I stopped for ages, and now getting back into it again. It's just something for me to do while I watch TV. I still have my regular life, regular job etc, its just while I'm doing other things, I may as well be doing something productive with my time online!
    COMPING WINS:
(Before "comping") - Ben and Jerry's TShirt, Ben and Jerry's Free Tub, Tickets to see Take That, Teaching Book
(Started Comping March 2013): Gadget Show Tickets, Breakfast at Frankie and Bennys, Pizza at Varsity

Keep going comping brings you some little treats but does not replace a job, it takes several months to kind of build up your entries but you should start to see some results soon. Dont just enter the biggies because in my experience although the big prizes are great the little prizes are more rewarding. Ive only won one biggie, a technical makeover from Heart Radio - Sony Bravia tv, laptop etc, but dont misunderstand me was fantastic, but realistically a the little prizes eg several mascaras, body creams teabags crisps crumpets (received this week) etc have helped us financially. Then theres there middle value prizes eg kettle, monitor, dvd player, these are the prizes which I like to win, so good luck hope you win soon xx

  • It took me nearly 5 months to get my first win (Jan 2013) and I've been comping for over a year now. It really is luck of the draw and some months you will win a little and some months not at all. You shouldn't rely on winning as it isn't guarenteed. Good luck though :) x
:T Thanks to everyone who posts comps!

I agree with all above, this should really be seen as a fun hobby which MAY at some point in time give you a really nice surprise. Started comping in 1987 with a Schweppes competition to win a HUGE prize and got a runner-up case of champagne, which got me hooked. Over the next 7 or 8 years won a couple of cars, couple of holidays and lots of other stuff. Then for 3 whole years, entering about 1000 competitions a month, I won absolutely NOTHING and got so demoralised that I stopped completely. It was only when one of my kidneys exploded and I was invalided for a few months, not allowed to do anything except sit, that I started again and within 4 months won £2000 worth of wine. Since then been entering about 1500-2000 per month (whilst working to keep food on the plate), some good prizes, some trivial, some fun, some useful and often months of nothing, but if you keep doing them, eventually something will arrive.
