When I first saw the stats I was scratching my head to account for the noise margin and then it clicked when I recognised the up and down sync for what they were - the old 2Mbps fixed. I have seen this before occasionally when people thought they were on RADSL or ADSLMax as it used to be called. I have no idea why it happens though as I thought that profile could only be set by manual action.

I think you read the post I made just before it clicked with me what the sync rates meant. It will not change until the profile gets changed. Getting that done may be problematic as it needs BT Wholesale intervention and they, like Openreach are not public facing so completely unaccountable and reluctant to do anything to assist end users - only ISPs can even talk to them.
If this were my line I'd check to see if there was any LLU presence - obviously Sky must be absent but maybe TalkTalk? Swapping to an LLU provider will dump BT and their crummy profiling. Try http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search to see if there is anything available.0 -
Thanks - only BT at our small exchange. Something changed last night I think. The connection rate shot up but profile is still stuck. (I'm sure the connection rate was just over 2 yesterday).
Your DSL Connection Rate :6.72 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2 Mbps0 -
The profile should follow over the next two to three days as long as the events that caused the banding to occur don't reoccur!!Good luck!!0

Yes the term profile is a bit confusing. The target margin setting gets called a profile and so does the IP profile. If it really has started syncing at 6.72Mbps then as the previous poster said the IP profile will follow and you'll start to see 6Mbps or so downloads.
With 21dB attenuation your line should support the full 8Mbps so it's worth looking at the full stats.0
