This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Thanks for all the lovely messages of support and good wishes for the next interview. Have dreamed about it all night so goodness knows what I will be like by Monday :rotfl:
I don't want to build my hopes up and I know I shouldn't be doing it but can't help thinking about the possibility of redundancy pay off AND a new job. We could get a much needed second hand car, ours is on almost 200,000 miles and is costing us a fortune in upkeep plus the MPG significantly drops year by year. We could have some desperately needed work done on our falling apart house before it really does fall apart. We could know our endowment shortfall was no longer a worry. We could take a huge chunk off our debt, all due to previously mentioned falling apart house! I don't want to spend a penny on me, I just want some peace of mind.
OK that is enough wishing and hoping and I need to get back to reality and get ready for work
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Good Morning TTFTM and All Who Follow x
Bit of a day yesterday. Went to collect my eldest son for work and found myself with a car full of his possessions. His on/off relationship has-hit-the rocks again:eek::eek::eek: He is home and this will mean a huge re-shuffle and loads of de-cluttering.
Then my second son was very upset about the direction his life is going - I wanted to make it better for him but I can't but have a plan to help.
Then I picked up DD from the train for a few days at home. She is enjoying uni life but this grated on both Ds1 and Ds2 who are lacking direction atm and made for a tense tea time - Honestly.
Youngest son is doing better though:T:T:T
Then my mum phoned up really upset - oh it rains but it pours:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: (hysterical laughter)
Im going for a physio assessment today for some intensive treatment so no doubt will be shattered later.
Hester - hope work don't take advantage of you x
Ruby - thinking of you xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all!
Slowly making my way through the week. Not done much around the house at all. Got to order OH's birthday present today.
We have found a holiday for next year so need to get a saving plan in place. Hopefully we can book next month.
Quorn, potatoes and veg for dinner tonight.
Have a lovely day all!0 -
Good Morning all, dark again winter is really drawing on now. After the school run with the youngest DGS I have the other three for the day as their teachers are striking .Not a problem though as I will be decluttering and cleaning DDs downstairs bathroom. The boys are at the age when they really don't need entertaining .The eldest (17) has school work to do (he is in the last year of 'A'levels. The other two (13 &12) will be either on the computer or games consoles this morning, so I can get on with the bathroom. Then after lunch if the weather brightens up I'll take them and the two dogs up to the woods for a walk.As long as the boys are fed at regular intervals they are easy going lads and no trouble at all.
Hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing.Hopefully it will brighten up later on.
Cheers chums

Morning :hello:
Time to face the music Great news :T
LameWolf The chickens are fine, four times a year I give them food with flubenvet to prevent/treat worms
I had plans for a quiet crochet day yesterday but it didn't work. I sneezed and pulled a muscle in my back. Lit a tealight and put it on the kitchen table, forgot it was there and started sorted washing. I flung miss tru's ripple blanket onto the table and burned a big hole in it. Luckily it's acrylic so it didn't burst into flames, also the hole was near the top so I unpicked 11 rows and have started to re-do them. Then spent yesterday afternoon listening to someone else's problems, I didn't mind because as they went over everything (and over and over....) they reached their own solutionThey went off happy, I didn't feel like I'd been unloaded on and they think I'm fab – which is quite funny because I had no answers at all and didn't offer any advice, lol.
I wanted to sort the freezers the other day. I opened the doors, looked at the drawers and shut them again. Mr tru has a thing about keeping them jam-packed, I get annoyed because 1. I can't find anything, 2. there's no room for batch-cooked things and 3. half the time I can't even get the drawers open. He didn't buy any frozen food last week and I'm hoping to steer him away from the freezers when we go shopping this week. Hopefully there'll be room in there after the weekend and I can start organising them and cooking some proper food. Couldn't believe what he bought the other week - miss tru had something in the oven and I couldn't work out what it was, they were little round things the size of small burgers. She held up the bag - bubble and squeak!!! Who buys that ready made??!!
Today's plans – hoover and dust downstairs, finish fixing miss tru's blanket then carry on with my baby blankets.Bulletproof0 -
Morning all. Up and showered already. BF was off work sick yesterday and i think it will be the same again today.
I'm off to the doctors just after 9 for my blood test results chat with the dr. I really hope it's nothing serious.
After that I'm off to work. Don't know what I'm doing for tea tonight, probably just something easy from the freezer. BF isn't really eating much right now so I will probably just make him some toast.
Hope everyone has a good day!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Dry, clear sky and chilly here this morning.
DH up and gone to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was roast pork joint, (1 of those cook from frozen one's with stuffing in it too, very nice it was too), mash, carrots, broccolli, peas, mushrooms and gravy, apple strudel and custard for dessert for those that had room. I remembered to get some chicken out of the freezer to defrost last night, so tonight we're having chicken in white wine and cream sauce, may do egg fried rice with it or potatoes and veg - haven't decided.
Work yesterday wasn't too bad at all - so managed to get caught up with all emails etc. My colleague got to work ok and opened up for us at the right time so everything was sorted. Hoping I won't forget keys again as it just causes so much hassle and running around to make sure someone has keys - lesson well learned I think!
Now on days off so have all the normal chores to do, so will get going with the washing, drying, ironing, housework, have a couple of telephone calls and pc emails etc to do too - so will get cracking and try to get as much done as possible, so I don't have loads left to do tomorro as well as tomorrow's normal jobs!
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
well finally ive got the house how I like it. Theres a few cobwebs to chase but that's because its been so long since I last went searching for them. Theres one just above my bed. I noticed it this morning.
Just a few jobs on my list today.
Cobweb hunt
Bleach weeds (die you sods die!)
Submit gas and electricity meter readings (to see if we owe any)
Also I am on a mission. Hubby is still whining about changing the car. He looks at things through rather blinkered eyes and i'm sick of the moaning so i'm doing some research myself. He has no huge loan to pay off so he can afford to spend a little bit more, he's not keen on French cars and he's fell out of favour with his usual make of car, his exact words are 'unsuitable and over priced'. Talking about hubby, 'I think its time I look for a job' he said yesterday. He's had 5 weeks off work (or thereabouts).
I'm expecting a delivery today. A space saver cot for the Grandbaby. Not that I am complaining but he will be needing something a little bigger than his moses basket soon and I sure as heck aint having a full sized cot in my bedroom when he comes to stay. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Morning all
Brighter here today.
Fish fed, hubby fed and dropped at work, I have a bowl of cereal and a cuppa.
WM and DW are both on, I may risk the washing on the line.
LW, I hope you have a gibber free day and have fun with Ruby.
Molly & BB. Kids! Who'd have em.
Judi, I once came back from a weekend away to find 57 full bin bags waiting for the dustman.
Time I did some housework before going to work.
Have a good day everyone
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0
