I thought there was timescales involved in PPI claims and that PPI at the date show by the OP was outside of those timescales.

I only mention that because I posted on here about a store card taken out in about 2001 and paid off in full in 2011 and was told ''don't bother as its outside the time scales''

I have also heard this, did you find out if its true as ive also read that if your accounts are still active you can go back to the 1990s?

Prior to 2005, general insurance selling was not regulated, so complaints about store cards etc taken earlier than this don't have to considered.
This does not apply to Banks who were regulated much earlier.

It is outside the time scalein the sense that store cards were not regulated prior to 2005.
Most banks were regulated by a precursor of the FSA then, which is why they are not outside timescales.

If I was you I would put a claim in. I have had 2 payouts for loans from 1998 and 2000 from Lombard and Barclays. I know you say yours are storecards, but what have you got to lose, the price of a stamp. Go for it. :)

Just as long as the OP realises that a quick rejection will be the result...

Santander own most storecards now, and they will reject those bought prior to 2005.
After they have rejected you, depending on who provided the insurance, you then complain to the underwriter.

    You had loans, not storecards.
